Think Big: Are We the Warriors Who Give Up Before Reaching the Goal

In our practical lives, in daily affairs, some of us have extremism in our temperament, and some have discouragement and frustration. These disheartened individuals can never achieve their goals. Whether a small task or a large one is assigned to them, whether it's a routine job or an extraordinary one, they never complete their work.

An Example for Students: If they are given homework, an assignment to complete and bring, some among them are such that in their entire student life, they have never completed a single assignment. And this is not limited to just writing assignments; it's the same in every task. Whatever work is entrusted to them, they cannot and will not complete it.

This is a major cause of failure – their personal failure and the failure of the group they are a part of, of which they are a component, a piece. They will also cause the failure of that group.

Teamwork Example: Imagine you are in a team – a sports team or a team formed for any other purpose. Within this team, there are some people who are "Qali" (disheartened). "Qali" means discouraged, those who never bring their work to completion. They give up early, get tired, get bored, become weary, become regretful, become remorseful, and leave the work unfinished.

Most unsuccessful people – unsuccessful in education, unsuccessful in life, unsuccessful in business, unsuccessful in trade, unsuccessful in married life, unsuccessful in national life – all belong to this category: "Qali." They cannot accomplish any task.

What Should Be Done with Them? They shouldn't actually be assigned tasks in the first place. They should be brought to training centers, and their ailment should be treated. They should be encouraged, motivated, and their weaknesses should be addressed so that they can at least deliver their share, their responsibility to the destination.

Formula for Child Training: This is an excellent formula for child training. Those responsible for child training should have them do just this. This is their training: when a task is assigned to them, ensure they complete it.

Naive Trainers and Compassionate Parents: Some are naive, not trainers or educators, just compassionate people who take on the field of education or training. These are very effective people in making children ineffective. If they are compassionate parents who stop children before they finish working, saying, "You must be tired, put it down, put down the book, put down the copy, that's enough." They are very effective in making children’s personalities unsuccessful, in causing them to quit halfway. If teachers are also like this, who quickly feel pity, saying, "You've done this much work, that's enough, it's sufficient."

This Approach is Not Correct: Neither are these parents balanced, nor are these teachers just. You should make them practice, make it a habit for them to always complete the work, finish it, complete it in every situation. Even if there is no longer a need to complete it, no urgency, no distress, even if it’s okay to leave it incomplete, still have them complete it. Through tasks, so that the child's personality does not remain deficient. Work is given, halfway through, it's left somewhere. It's put down halfway, saying, "It's okay, someone else will pick it up. You go." No, no one will pick it up. Call him back. If he's asleep, wake him up, in whatever state he is, wake him up, to complete his work.

Its Effects: What effect will this have on the child's personality? That "Qali"-ness will end. This habit of failure, of leaving work unfinished, will end. His mind will accept, his psyche will accept that he must bring every task to the intended destination. Every responsibility must be brought to the destination. No excuses on the way – "I'm feeling unwell," "this happened," "I'm hungry," "I'm sweating," "I have pain," "stomach ache," "foot pain." These are not excuses. In every situation, even if death were to come to someone, postpone death as well, so that first I deliver this thing to the goal, then I will die. Do not die without reaching the goal.

Qali, a Large Army: Failure and discouragement are a large army. Most people are afflicted with heart diseases. They break resolutions. They don't complete resolutions. They don't fulfill their own ambitions. They don't bring their own intentions to fruition. They don't complete their plans. The majority are like this. Women and men make very good plans, make great ambitions, but quit and run away midway. They think of great constructive ideas, take steps, "Now I will do this, I will do this in life, I will do this tonight, I will do this today, I will do this in Ramadan this month," and then they give up right there.

Cause of Failures: This discouragement, going forward, becomes the cause of major failures. Failure of what? It becomes a cause of the failure of religion, it becomes a cause of the failure of the state, it becomes a cause of the failure of the nation, and most of all, it becomes a cause of the failure of their Imam and leader. Those who cannot bring responsibility to the destination, cannot throw the arrow to the target, due to weakness, due to weakness of will.

What is the Reason? What is the reason for this? It is because of this one trait that we are "Qali," slow in will. People of slow will. Generation after generation is slow. Now it is possible that previous generations were like this because they were not given attention. Sometimes it happens that a person's attention is not there, there is no awareness. If someone had paid attention, we would have done it. No one paid attention at that time.

Regret for the Past: Today, when I think about my past, at every step, there are many regrets. At every step there is regret, "If only," at such and such stage, someone had paid attention. There was no attention to these issues. If someone had paid attention to these things in childhood, if someone had paid attention in youth, if someone had paid attention during education, if someone had created awareness, if someone had created awareness in school, if someone had brought attention to these matters in seminary. There is intense regret because when a person loses youth, wastes everything, and then attention comes to something, a person feels sorrow. Capital is gone, and now awareness has come. Energy is finished, opportunity is finished.

You are Fortunate: You are fortunate because you are being given awareness at the right time. But your misfortune is greater because your attitude, your logic is very inappropriate. Which Quran is pointing to, "Sam'ina wa 'asayna" – "We have heard and we have disobeyed."

Qali, Destruction: "Qali"-ness is destruction. Entire nation, entire community, entire generation, our past elders who have passed away, they were also like this. They were also not people of high resolve, high spirit. They used to do small tasks and quickly get tired, become exhausted. They also faced difficulty in doing big work. They have also instilled this feeling in us – just let your life pass, have a small job, get a small degree.

Manifesto of Some People: This is the manifesto of Some People: have a small degree, a small job, a small salary, a small income, within it a small family, a small house, and a small life, and then a very big paradise afterwards! What big thing will come out of this smallness? From small comes small. Will an elephant be born from an ant? If an ant says, "Let me remain an ant, but let my child be an elephant," this is impossible. Some even say in paradise, "A small one is enough." We don't need such a big one there either.

Man's Great Purpose: No, dear ones, peace be upon you, for us to do small tasks, Allah Almighty has created these insects. They were on earth before our arrival, crawling creatures, for doing small tasks. Animals and birds, all these were created by Allah for small tasks. Even with angels present, man's need arose because a big task had to be done here on earth, for a great resolve. People of resolve are needed, people of will, people of courage are needed so that big tasks can be done on earth, to establish Allah's system of Lordship.

Think Big: Why do you think small? Small degree, small education, small salary. Move forward, think about it. Conquer the world. No one in the entire world thinks small. Now in America, look, they all want to rule over Afghanistan too, rule over Pakistan too, rule over China too, rule over India too. Now these Zionist children, Jewish children in Israel, are they making them small-minded? No! What are they making Zionist children? "This Arab land will also be yours, this Pakistan will also be yours, this Turkey will also be yours, this Egypt will also be yours. All these countries where Muslims are, all will belong to the Jews." They do not train them to be small-minded.

Danger of Extremism (Ghulu): And a greater danger than this is extremism (Ghulu). "Qali," because it stops before the target, it can be started again. It was a vehicle that was stopped, the vehicle broke down, stopped. It can be repaired and brought back into motion. All the trouble is with "Ghali." Because it has gone beyond the limit, has crossed the target, it cannot come back. There is also this proverb that an arrow shot from a bow can never return, cannot come back into the bow. Once it has left, it has left. If it has fallen on the way, it can be brought to the target again. "Qali" can be prepared and brought into motion. But "Ghali" can never be brought back.
